Reminders
Learnient sends nothing until you set reminders up. An account that has never opened this screen emails nobody about a deadline, however many deadlines it has.
Switching reminders on
Section titled “Switching reminders on”- Choose Admin at the top of the page, then Workspace in the left-hand menu and Notifications.
- Find Training reminders. Each reminder is a summary row showing what it does now: the days it sends on, the frequency, and whether managers are told.
- Choose Configure on the one you want. There are four: Due date reminders, Certification expiry reminders, Skill expiry reminders and CPD reminders.
- Choose the days under Before and After. Then weekly is the last option under After rather than a separate setting.
- Choose an Email frequency.
- Switch on Notify manager if managers should get a summary too.
- Choose Save changes to close the drawer, then Save reminders on the section itself.
The drawer says it plainly: an email is sent at each selected point, and leaving them all unselected sends nothing at that stage. That is how you turn one half off without turning the other off.
A reminder that is switched off shows only OFF on its row, with no Configure button until it is switched back on.

What the defaults do
Section titled “What the defaults do”Due date reminders arrive 7 days and 1 day before, 7 days after, then weekly. Certification expiry reminders arrive 30, 14 and 7 days before, 7 days after, then weekly.
Then weekly keeps chasing every seven days for twelve weeks, and then stops.
Reminders go out once a day in the morning, so a reminder for today’s date arrives that morning rather than at the moment the date turns.
Choosing a weekly Email frequency groups somebody’s reminders into one email, sent on Mondays.
Who gets chased
Section titled “Who gets chased”Due date reminders go to anybody with a deadline they have not met, whether the training is mandatory or optional.
Certificate reminders are narrower. Only somebody’s most recent attempt is chased, a withdrawn certificate is not chased at all, and courses taken inside a learning path do not send their own.
Turning expiry reminders on for the first time
Section titled “Turning expiry reminders on for the first time”The first run records the day you switched them on, and only certificates expiring on or after that day are ever chased.
So switching them on does not send a wave of emails about certificates that expired last year. Anything already expired stays quiet, and you chase those yourself if you want them chased.
Telling managers
Section titled “Telling managers”Notify manager sends a manager one summary email listing their people rather than one email per person. The switch describes who that is: the manager of the position the training belongs to.
The manager who is told is the one attached to the job that gave the person the training, which is not always the manager on their main job. Somebody who holds two jobs is chased through the one the training came from.
With positions switched on, that manager is the lead of the position the job reports to. If several people hold that position, only the lead gets the summary, so a reminder never arrives three times. See How positions work.
Chasing people now
Section titled “Chasing people now”Reminders are scheduled, so they do not fire on demand. To chase somebody today, the dashboard’s needs-attention lists send an immediate email to everybody on them.
