Getting figures, tables and charts from Lenni

If your role lets you see learning analytics, you can ask Lenni about training across your organisation and get the answer as a number, a table or a chart, without building a report. Your role needs Learning analytics facts switched on. Someone who can see only their own team gets figures for their team.

Ask “how many”, “what’s the rate”, “which has the most” or about one named person, and Lenni answers in a sentence. If two or more things tie, it names them all.

  • “How many people are in London?”
  • “What’s our compliance rate?”
  • “Which department has the lowest completion rate?”
  • “How is Priya Shah doing on her mandatory training?”

Start with “show”, “list” or “who” to get a table. A list of people comes with name and email, and you can ask for anything else you want to see.

  • “Show everyone in IT”
  • “List people overdue on fire safety with their department and manager”
  • “Who are the top 10 by courses completed this year?”
  • “Who hasn’t completed Manual Handling?”
  • “Show new starters from the last 90 days”

A table shows up to 1,000 rows. When there are more, Lenni says it is showing the first 1,000.

Say “chart” or “graph”, and say what to group by with “by” or “per”. A chart always compares groups, such as departments, locations, courses or months. Ask for a bar, line or pie chart; otherwise you get a column chart.

  • “Show completion by department as a chart”
  • “Graph course completions by month this year”
  • “Pie chart of people per location”
  • “Bar chart of overdue training by location”

If there’s nothing to group, such as a single figure, Lenni gives you a sentence or a table instead.

You don’t need to ask again from scratch. Follow up and Lenni changes the last answer, keeping your earlier filters unless you remove them. Adding or removing a column only ever changes the columns: “Remove department” on a list of one department’s people takes the Department column away and keeps the same people. To drop the filter itself, say so, such as “remove the department filter”.

To…Try
Add or remove columns“Add job title”, “Also show their manager”, “Remove email”
Narrow it down“Filter to London”, “Only mandatory courses”, “Top 5”
Widen it again“Remove the London filter”, “Show everyone, not just London”
Change the order“Sort by department”, “Lowest first”
Change the time period“What about last month?”, “This year only”, “Last 90 days”
Switch the view“Show as a table”, “Show as a chart”
Tidy a chart“Remove blank values”

Lenni understands time periods such as this month, last month, this year, the last 30 or 90 days, and quarters such as Q1.

Lenni can answer about people and their learning:

  • People and structure: departments, locations, job titles, companies, managers, groups and positions
  • Learning: course and learning path progress, completions, scores, time spent, overdue and mandatory training, certificates
  • Skills: skills, levels and gaps, including your organisation’s biggest skill gaps and the topics people most often ask about
  • Development: CPD, goals, performance reviews and one-to-ones, and 360 feedback
  • Your own fields: custom fields and forms

Course survey answers are only shown as totals for each course, and only once a course has at least three responses. This applies to every role, administrators included.

If your role lets you see only the people on your team, Lenni answers about those people: “How is my team doing on fire safety?” works. Figures that describe the whole organisation aren’t available to you, such as totals by department, location or course, or organisation-wide skill gap themes. Lenni tells you when a question needs them.

Ask for a download after a table or chart, or choose Export on it:

You haveAsk forJust “export” gives you
A table“Export to Excel”, “Download as CSV”, “Export as PDF”A CSV
A chart“Export as PNG”, “Export as JPG”, “Export as PDF”A PNG

You can also ask in one go. For a table, “Show everyone in London and export to Excel” shows the table and downloads the file. For a chart, “Chart completion by department and export” shows the chart with Export as PNG as the first suggestion, or the format you asked for, such as Export as PDF. Choose it to download the chart. A chart has to be on screen before it can be saved as an image, so it doesn’t download in the same answer.
